Chirp from engine at high rev shifting

How do you know it's the belt and not the tires that are chirping?

I still want to know this. I'm not questioning anyone's intelligence or anything, just curious.

edit: i guess if the sound is clearly coming from the front then it could be the belt.

If you do replace the belt, keep the old one and toss it in the trunk under the spare tire. Never know when a belt might go on the highway and you'll need the spare. Might want to go to Autozone and buy the cheapo 3/8" breaker bar for $8 so you can move the tensioner.
