I guess I'll give everyone a rundown on what happened with my throw out bearing, but for those who are new or such, i guess maybe could relate to the problem anyway.

When i first bought my car, i had this really high pitched chirping sound coming from the front of my car, that went away whenever my foot was placed on the clutch. Obviously, turned out to be my throw out bearing in my clutch. So when I took it to the shop, they told me my clutch was most likely original, and it probably would be best not to just replace the throw out bearing but the entire clutch also because of how much labour costs to even do the job.
So 2 months after replacing the clutch, my throw out bearing is making the same sounds again.
I took it back to the shop who originally fixed it. Now, It's possible I busted a bushing, or a pin that helps adjust my clutch pedal. See right now my clutch pedal is very loose, like from left to right... as my friend so eloquently put it, it's extremely excessive in terms of its looseness... so it interests me getting it fixed. After that, the shop guy says with adjusting my pedal it will exert enough force on my bearing to stop the sweaking noise that drives me up a wall...

Does that sound right? or should i just have him replace the bloody thing again? I will get the clutch pedal itself fixed, that's a given, it needs to be done anyway, and I am sure it will help. It doesn't take any effort or weight from my foot to place on the clutch to make the sound go away, but even still.. the fact that a 2 month old throw out bearing is making the same f'kn noise doesn't seem right. By his translation, I shouldn't have even needed to replace my clutch or throw out bearing in the first place... ?

I posted on your other thread on the same topic. You should definetly check out your bearing retainer on the tranny its that sleeve/collar right behind the splines that your throw out rides on. my car did the same thing with the noise and thats what my friend told me it was he has a5.0 as well. I never got a chance to replace it since my T-5 blew up but when I put the 3550 in I looked at that bearing retainer and you can definetly see the wear on it from where the tob rides continueously.

That's perfect man. I'm literally printing that out like instructions and checking tomorrow. I'll let you know the end result to see if that was my problem also. I'm startin the day off with this clutch issue.

Thanks again man.

i stand by what i said in your other thread. it did sounds like a TOB issue to me (from my keyboard) :)

and dialing in preload is a common solution. so i think i agree with the guy at the shop (it was wise to install a new clutch, given the labor vs parts cost, esp on an unknown age clutch), and preload should lessen the chirping.

i think i suggested on the other thread that some TOB's are better than others. try searching for what is best liked as far as TOB's go (in case you should be in there to swap it). if not, i would bet preload takes care of it.

good luck.
