I just got my exhuast tubes replaced and added 50 series 3 chamber flowmaster mufflers. My mistake was that the mufflers are too large so no they hang but for now. Headers.

I was told to get about 3'' headers even tho my pipes are 2 1/2''. How does that work? The current headers are clamped so seems like i can put them on myself. Any ideas on the kind to get? I was also told that shorties aren't a good idea. What should i look for in headers?

Thanx again!

There is nothing wrong with shorties. I have JBA mid length headers on mine. I really like them. My 65 does just fine with them. I couldn't go long tube unless I got high dollar custom ones, because I have a clutch cable setup.

Alot of it depends on how your car is setup. If its a stock or near stock engine or even a mild built engine then I don't see the point to long tubes.

If your car is stock or close to it, I would go with HiPo manifolds.

Alot of headers have a 3 inch collector and then reduce to 2.5 or 2.25 inch pipe.

If your mufflers are too long and hang low, I suggest replacing them with Dynomax Ultraflo or Magnaflow.

When you do decide what headers you want to use, I would get some Percy's Seal 4 Good gaskets.
