Choke stove pipes are shot...

...and indeed missing from my car (66 coupe with C code).

On a previous thread someone said to check if the stove pipe boss on the exhaust manifold had been 'repaired' by the previous owner. Well, yes, it has been drilled, right into the manifold, so if I were to replace the stove pipes I'd have exhaust gas entering my auto choke mech. I can't see how I'd fix the manifold, so I'm left with welding the holes up and finding an alternative for my choke.

Anyone know of a manual conversion for the standard 2V carb?

IIRC, the 2100 series carb uses the same choke parts as the 4100 4-barrel. The manual-choke 4100 carbs are not all that common, but one of the specialty shops (Pony Carburetors?) might have the manual choke linkage. Try looking in Tony D. Branda's catalog, too.

Another alternative is to convert to an electric choke.

How do I convert to electric?

Find a 70's-early 80's Ford in a wrecking yard that has electric choke. Remove the choke housing and wire.

Install the choke housing on your carb. Connect the choke wire to the STA terminal on your alternator.

OK sounds possible. Any ideas of donor cars, as American tin in scrap yards is not that common over here?

you can find manual choke conversion kits on the Help rack at Advance Auto, Auto Zone, etc. No need for specialty parts on a Ford choke, they're somewhat universal.

You think they might ship to the UK? I'll check out their websites tonight.

A new (S/H) manifold might be the solution, but over here I might get one just as bad as the one I already have, it's not like I have a breakers yard on every corner with American tin in it. I'll make some enquiries.

If they won't ship for you but you find the part number you need online I am sure someone here would be willing to pick one up and ship it to you, at least I'd be willing to if it's your only option.

Advance Auto is a big 'NO' on the shipping, I'm still waiting on Auto Zone to get back to me.

In the meantime, I've scoured Auto Zone's website, and this is all I came up with:

Yeah OK just let me know. Autozone and Napa are the most local for me to just pick something up on a lunch break with no problems.
