I am sure this has been covered before, but I could not find a good answer.

I am trying to figure out what Cam to go with for my 72. It has a 351C-v2, FMX tranny. I am going to be adding headers. Torque converter is stock spec. I have tried getting the information from Comp Cams by filling out the web form but they never replied, I tried twice with no luck.

I want something slightly more radical than stock, a noticable idle, If I need to upgrade the Torque converter I will. I mostly use the car for cruising, street driving ( not a daily driver) but want to take it to the local drag strip once in a while.

What do you guys suggest?

the key in selecting a cam is to decide what rpm range you plan on this engine spending about 85% of its time in. for example in your case, this engine will likley spend most of its time in the 1500-5500 rpm range, i selected this range since you are not too concerned about idle quality and drivability, thus you want to select a cam that is going to work in this range. a comp cams 280 magnum would do real nice. remember also to select other components, intake, headers, carb, etc. to also work in this rpm range. do that and this motor will be very stout indeed in the mid range power zone, and will feel like it wont stop pulling when you have your foot down.
