Christmas trip gone bad (radfan issues)

Alright im 2 hours away from home guys. I need your help . I have seached Stangnet high and low for answers but i found nothing . I am having issues with my fan it wont come on anymore... it overheated on me this morning on my way out so i am stuck here. My connector to the fan is melted ....i have checked the fuses, rewired the melted wires, and spent 100$ on a new fan motor, checked 4 fire from wires with test light at operating tempeture. but have found nothing . I know there is some kind of relay for the fan but i cant locate it ...i was also wondering if it could be the CCRM im also not sure were it is located ....all help is greatly appreciated thanks guys

Does the cooling fan come on if you turn on the A/C or defroster? It should run continuously in those positions regardless of engine temp.

Hang on, I'll check on the relays...

According to my book, the high & low speed fan relays are incorporated in the CCRM.

The CCRM turns the fan on low if coolant temp reaches 221 degrees and turns it back off at 200. It's hard to get the motor that warm just idling or even driving when it's cold outside. How high on the gauge is the needle getting? Were there any outward signs of over heating - misfiring, loss of power, steam coming out from under the hood?

Another thing you can do to help control the temp if the fan isn't coming on is turn the heater on full blast.

alright ...i went in to radioshack to get a car charger and my wife was in the car and i come outside and yea it was steaming like crazy so she shut it off and came and got me ...but my gauge reads straight up on the R all the time anything past that i know its getting hot ..

Yeah, steam is not good. Make sure you replace that missing water.

OK, looks like the CCRM is located inside the passenger-side fender - you need to remove the intake tube & filter to access the bolts holding it in place and probably pull the inner fender liner to get to it - the fender liner has a combination of screws and panel clips if I remember correctly.

If it's gone bad, some people have apparently had success in repairing it by opening it up and removing the bad relays and soldering similar relays in place - assuming you've got the tools to do that where you are. You might be able to jumper it so the fan runs constantly until you're able to get it fixed - of course, you could probably just hotwire the fan straight to the battery too.

thanks for the information bro ...im am going to wire the fan direct to the battery so i can get it home and go from there ...but i have one more ? Do autopart stores carry the CCRM ? if not were could i locate one ?

If you need a CCRM PM me...I have one you can have cheap just to see if that is your problem. Beats spending 140 if you don't need it.
