Chrome maintenance question

I have chrome rims. I just applied 3 coats of mothers chrome polish and they look awesome. Can I also apply a few coats of wax or is that not recommended. If I can, what brand would be best?

I have never tried applying wax after, shining up my rims, usually chrome rims keep their shine for along time and you only need to wash them, then wipe them dry...
