Chrome on tri bars

Why does the chrome on tri bars crack? Can you use something to prevent it?

Try not to rub the curb or run over giant rib bending objects? Honestly, I dont know why it cracks and flakes unless maybe you drive in a northern state and get the winter chemicals and salt on them... Ive heard that is bad for chrome unless its triple plated or whatnot.

just flexure of the softer rim to the more stiff chrome i would guess...

and they are probably getting older, and some rims are better preped and dipped than others..

wish mine were chrome
