Chrome or polished aluminum?!?!??!

Hey guys, i just recently got an 01 cobra and it came with a set of shiny cobra rims......wat im tryin to figure out is whether its chrome or polished aluminum.....reason is that its a bit dirty and i want to know if i can use Mother's metal polish which advices not to use on chrome.....so if my rims ARE chrome i obviously wont use it.... if its aluminum i will..... is there a way to tell whether these rims are chrome or aluminum??

Chrome is usually a lot more mirror-like than polished aluminum.

Test the backside of the rim where it won't be seen.

Is there any flaking on the backside of the rim, if so its probably chrome

If they are like these, they are polished not chromed. What I havent figured out yet is if they are clearcoated. The back/inside of the rims look like crap.

wow I have found MY lost thread hehe. Yes those are the same exact rims i have on my car... i was told to use a magnet to tell whether or not it is chrome or alum.... alum. = magnet wont stick which is exactly what happened. I have yet to have time to use the polish on the rims. When i do get the chance i'll be sure to update you guys and post some pics! thanks for the replies

Thats a tuff one. It looks chrome. But it also looks polished. Since there are scratches in the finish.

They look polished, chrome looks a bit more flashy

I know...I tried saying it too....don't know of many chrome rims straight from the factory...


THEY ARE POLISHED....LOCK THE THREAD....
