Church401 street car build!

Hey guys I'm starting my journey on my first real build. I have a 2 bay garage I rent stocked with a massive amount of tools. In the summer of 2017 I bought a 92 notch. It had been reaprayes blue. It also needed the strut towers replaced. This weekend I started pulling everything apart and getting down to the rust. While I'm replacing the strut towers I'll be doing a full harness tuck (behind the dash) emissions delete, and bay shave. I also plan on doing the k member over.

Last night I got the front bumper off and fenders, I pulled off all the old crusty loom. I decided I'll push the headlight harness main harness and driver side harness back I to the cab and remove the dash. Then I'll drill holes into the fender wells and run the harnesses through that way, I'm going to drill through the transmissin tunnel for the engine harness. Then re install the dash.

Thanks man, I'll update almost daily. I have a question regarding the alternator cable. How are people routing that when they tuck thier bays?

I am the wrong one to ask, but if you do a seach for wire tuck, you may find a couple old threads that show some stuff. Or maybe someone who has done it will chime in. I would assume you would run it down along your oil pan from the firewall, and then up to the alternator. Thats just a guess.

I extended mine and ran it along the front core support, but my wire tuck wasn't the greatest and I sometimes regret doing it.

I started really digging Into the harness, and getting it ready to be pushed into the Cabin.

I sold my 90 notch for rust like that on the towers, then found more, and more, and more around various parts of them car I didn’t want to deal with it and I’ve been working in a body shop for 20 years. I hope you can work through it! Good luck.

It's a labor of love. It's actually not really costing me any money, just time and patience. Plus I can read wiring schematics so that helps. I'd advise anybody who wants to try something like this, to learn how to properly read a wiring schematic, if you can't something like this isn't for you.

So far so good. The rest of the car is completely rust free, the underside was coated years ago. Just rust on those dang strut towers. It's getting harder and harder to find these cars in good shape with low miles. I actually have the strut towers out of a California rust free car. I appreciate you coming to the build thread I regret not adding pictures of the cat and more details about it in the opening post.

The notch I had was going to be my forever Mustang, I knew it had rust, and I thought I was going to go thru and fix all of it but I surrendered. I sold that car in about 3 days. The new owner knew about it, he was a retired old car guy who had the time to do it, I sure as hell didn't, and I wanted a car that I could still drive and enjoy while I worked on it. I was lucky to find my 88GT, car was in Austin TX its most of its life, then was brought to ABQ in 2013. 0 rust. 109K, when I got it, almost 111k now.

I've wire tucked before but I hid my harness under the firewall seam. Not to the extent of what you're doing. I ran my headlight harness inside the upper core support from driver side to passenger side, I was speed density (Stinger Pimp ECU for tuning) so I didn't have MAF wires. I ran my 3g alternator and starter wires down to the lower core support on the back side, along with my e-fan wires, from driver side to passenger side and then to their destinations. One thing you need to figure out is where you'll place your ignition coil to keep that neat looking.

Hopefully this car ran fine before tearing it apart. It helps knowing that there are no electrical issues with ECU, main harness, EFI and headlight harness, and grounds.

Are you making your own smooth aprons or are you purchasing Scott Rod? I made my own which was fun.
Relocating battery to trunk?

Trunk battery location should be here tomorrow. The car ran great before I started pulling it apart so that is a plus. I am going to be tuning it with a sct chip so I'll be deleting the hego harness and running it without 02 sensors.i plan on extending the alternator harness and running it though the dash and out the passenger side to the starter solenoid. I am pretty nervous I've never done a project this big before, I'm going to order the Scott rod panels and mud those in. Im torn between battleship grey and tuxedo black for the bay color. The car is a twilight blue 92 lx.

How is it that you won't need the HEGO with an SCT tune? Why no O2 sensors?

Well I'm not sure what the capabilites of the sct are but I'm going to stick the car in closed loop and tune using a wideband. If sct cant do it, ill pick up a tweecer or whip up a megasquirt, because the car is going to be big single turbski.

Hey guys it's around 10 pm and I have a slight update for you all. The tuck is close to done. It looks like a mess, but it's all there all and mocked up to be loomed.

I had to pull the dash and lay it to the side like this. The pull the heater core and blower box.

Then push the driver harness through and pull it through the cut hole in the fender

I had to unloom the passenger side harness and main harness and pull them through the dash also. You really have to unloom the harness because you won't have enough slack with the factory wrapping, but the wires are plenty Long enough.

Next run the main harness under the dash and route it rough the driver side fender.

Then connect the headlight harness to the side harnesses, and tuck that inside of the cash bar in the front of the car.
