I haven't had any problems yet and I always use a hose. The important thing it just to do it on a hot day and dry what you can get to with a rag. Then leave the hood up for a couple hours in the sun. When you're confident that you don't have water on any electrical parts, start the engine and let it heat up. This will evap. whats left of the water. I haven't flooded a plug yet, and if I do, I'll just replace it. When my POS intake broke it flooded 2 of the plugs. Car ran like hell. I replaced them and it was fine.
