Cleaning my IAC made a world of difference! No more rough idle/stalling after long sitting periods. But anyway, this makes me want to clean my MAF sensor. I've heard that rubbing alcohol is the best thing to use to clean it. How exactly do you do it? Apply it with a q-tip or will that hurt it? I don't want to break it.

The MAF element is secured by 2 screws & has 1 wiring connector. To clean the element, remove it from the MAF housing and spray it down with electronic parts cleaner or non-inflammable brake parts cleaner (same stuff in a bigger can and cheaper too).

Actually, it's much easier to gently clean the wires with a Q-tip and alcohol. If you have a decent amount of gunk on there, spraying it will only accomplish dousing the sensor with fluid, and not getting all the crap off in some cases.

I wouldn't use anything more harsh than alcohol IMO. The wires are fairly solid since the coil is coated with a ceramic material that makes it rigid.

Just be super GENTLE, and it will work fine.

A mechanic once told me to spray it down with "Flammable" carb cleaner.. So that's what I have always used with no issues at all.
