I have silver ponys on my fox..and they look pretty nasty. I have tried a few things, but i cant get them clean. Any products you would suggest? Or maybe a home remedy? I thought about getting some acid that my uncle uses to wash his truck trailer with. Its weak, but its still acid....and i dont want to mess anything up. Any Suggestions?

Meguiar's makes a good wheel cleaner. It gets the brake dust and everything off very easily. Just spray it on and hose it off. Give it a shot.

look in my domain....turbines are a bit(h to keep clean. They were almost black when I bought the car. I used some acid (etching acid) and a tooth brush. I maintain them with Meguiar's hot wheels

simple green, and if that dosent work, like jhonda said, paint them, get some duplicolor silver paint, clean them, tape off the wheels, and give it a soft coat or two just to touch up any imperfections till the whole wheel is the same color, and give it a layer of clear, they will look PRIME, and itll be a fun weekend project.

I used to use bleach white on my turbines, that cleaned them up nicely.

I agree Paint them !! I bought a set off ebay and they were in good shape but a few scratches. I got the things mounted on the tires and they look good but now I wish I would have painted them !! I had to paint the due to the fact that the Center caps had been scratched to heck, I should have just painted the wheels !

I'd say paint them too unless you think the paint underneath the grime is worth keeping. If so, once you clean them i'd have them clear coated (the right way, not rattle can clear coat) so that you can actually wet sand and polish them next time if needed.

Thanks guys....I think i might try some acid or simple green. If that doesnt work, looks like i'll be gettin some paint and havin myself a weekend project. That will be one thing more to my long list, haha. I'll try cleanin them first, and if that doesnt work i'll come back for some more advice on painting them!

Oh yeah! ...Where can I buy some simple green at???
