Cleaning the engine bay..?

not to impose, but could another reason for not blanketing the whole engine with degrease is that you could harm the rubber coatings on some of the electrical/vacuum lines?

I'm of the view that it's better to be safe...do it by hand

Take a morning, or two..or so, and just clean it with a hand rag, air compressor, and metal/paint polish.

I run mine as a daily, and once the initial pain is done for the clean, it only takes 45 minutes each weekend to keep it detailed..................why are you folks looking at me like that
