Does disconnecting the battery completely remove codes or are they stored until a code reader clears them? I put in a new BBK CAI I got for christmas and I started the car before I connected the MAF plug. (opps forgot) The check engine light came on immediatly. I turned the car off and plugged the connector in and now the light is off. I am wondering because I have to go thru MD. Emmissions in two weeks and I do not want any codes in the Computer. Will disconnecting the battery clear any and all codes the car has saved? Thanks Travis

The KAM (Keep Alive Memory) in the computer needs to forget about your code. As you said, disco' the battery and press the brake pedal for ten seconds or so - this helps deplete the capacitors in the KAM so it totally discharges.

Good luck and enjoy the new parts. :D
