Cleveland question

This is the set up that I am going to do with my Cleveland:
4V heads, maybe a little bit of port and polish work
Single plane intake manifold
396 forged stroker kit
dual stage of nitrous
probably a holley 800 cfm carb
crane cam nitrous cam
backed by a T56
How much horsepower you guys think this can make N/A?

Do not port those 4V heads as they are too big to begin with and air velocity suffers in stock form. I would actually suggest getting the Australian 2V heads if you want a street brauler as the 4V heads only make good power at high rpms.
 
I already have a daily driver chevy and why would I put a windsor where a cleveland was because the clevelands are jus better engines. Even tho cleveland was produced for lik 4 yrs in the US but they were still in productiong in Aus for i think another 10 years. Also I would kill myself before I put a chevy engine in my Ford. I'm only using the nitrous as a back-up system. If I'm gettin beat, flip the switch and chalk up another win for me. lol

Your logic for using it, is exactly why I don't use it. Kinda like cheating on your final exam in high school ( or anywhere else) :D If I'm racing someone and they have to use it to beat me, then in my opinion, they've lost the race whether they've crossed the line first or not. I think it's a far better thing to beat a Chevy that's spraying it with an "on the motor" Cleveland any day :rlaugh: Just like in High School, if you've done your homework, you shouldn't need to cheat to pass ( the other guy) :D

Ron...look closer....he is building a stroker.

Port the exhaust side on the heads, polish the chambers, 3 angle the valves, install screw in studs, new guides, roller rockers and call it done.

You will have very nice torque with the stroker crank.

Before anyone can really wag a hp for you, you need to think about a cam.

I ran an off the shelf crane cam in my 408c with .567 or so lift and made 300hp 325ft/lb at the rear wheel through an AOD and 9 inch rear.

I called up ed curtis at flowtech and had a custom flat tappet hydro cam made up....VERY mild IMO.... lift is still under .6.....compression is 10.6:1 - made 393 RWHP and 350 ft lbs at the back tire through an AOD and 9 inch rear.
 
I think you have the right idea for your engine.
Pull it off and I think you will be happy.
I agree with dodge that you should only port the exhaust side.
I ported a set of C exhausts by taking out all the strange bumps and contours, then enlarged the port in the 'upward' direction. Raising the port as much as possible, while only touching the bottom of the port enough to polish it. The top of the C exhaust port is where the action is, to enlarge the bottom of the port is to make things worse. Get in and port the bowl, take out the bumps, raise the roof some, and match the header gasket. That is my theory. I did a set but never used them. A drag racer made me an offer for the heads that I couldn't refuse. He says he is going to run the car this summer and give me a report on the gains he gets from the heads.
