Clicking Sound

I posted this originally thinking the issue was the front end of my car. I was incorrect.

When braking, I am hearing a clicking sound, almost sort of a creak. This only happens when braking. Car sounds fine otherwise. The sounds almost seems to be going with the rotation of the wheel. Car has around 30k miles, and the original brake pads. It seems to be louder on the passenger rear, but can hear it on the drivers side.

I think maybe my adj. panhard bar maybe too tight? I am unable to look at the car until lunch time tomorrow, but wanted to get some insight.

Thanks guys.

The sound seems to come and go. Sometimes its there, sometimes it is not.

Could I have either the rear shocks or panhard bar to tight? Could I have the top of the shock bolted down to tight inside the trunk?

Any insight is helpful. If I cant figure this out, I am going to have a shop take a look and also do my gears as well.

I don't think its the pads. The sounds is heard from both sides now.

It is starting to sound like a squeek. I am going to take my wheels off and make sure everything is tight - including everything that has to do with the brake system.

Worst case, I am going to get my gears installed this week. I am going to ask the local shop to check out my entire rear suspension. They do this stuff for a living and have knowledge to pinpoint this quickly.

ON a side note, I also notice when I go over a bump, I hear a sound that reminds me a small bird chirp. I heard that this could mean that one of my shocks are defective?

Well, I had the opportunity to walk along side my car while a buddy of mine drove it. It most definietly sounds like a creaking sound when the brake is pressed on the passenger side rear tire area. I am going to pull off the tire, and tighten every bolt.

Ill let you know how it works out.

it may be a dry bushing in the suspension or even a dry jounce bumper on a front strut. isolate the axle with the concern and go from there.

when tightening every bolt like you said you were going to do... make sure you dont over torque anything.... not trying to make you sound dumb, just hate to see a control arm not fully move due to a bolt being too tight...

Mike,
I brought my car in to get the gears installed and had their tech look at it. My adjustable panhard bar needed more grease on the end. He greased it up, blew off my rotor with air... and the sound is gone!

I am happy it was something small.
