climate control out of wack?

why is it that when I select the the fan on the climate control (blower active with no ac only) to blow fron under my feet, the dash vents at the windshield are also active? there is another selection for the windshield defrost vent so why is it also opening electronically when not being selected?

I have the same issue and I believe that I read someone on here not too long ago that took it to the dealership to complain and couldn't get them to fix it under warranty. He had to end up paying for the new control unit (he got it at cost but it was still like $30 or so). In my eyes, I say it is a warranty fix.

do you know what part was replaced? part number for ford? It's not bothering me too much, but it should be working properly. I can replace it myself if I know what's causing it.

Some air always blows onto the windshield when the floor mode is selected in order to keep the windshield from frosting up in the winter.

Some air always blows onto the windshield when the floor mode is selected in order to keep the windshield from frosting up in the winter.

That wasn't the case last winter, why would it start doing this this winter? I'll have to look deeper into this.

It was definitely happening last winter, but was probably unnoticeable because it's designed to blow only a small volume of air onto the windshield in the floor mode. But if it's currently blowing as much, or more, air onto the windshield in that mode, then something is wrong.
