Clock isn't working.

Sooo, anybody know what steps i should take to try and troubleshoot this. It hasn't worked for a long time now. Hopefully its just a power connection problem. Would i have to take the entire dash apart to get to it or what?

is that all that doesn't work? Theres a 15 amp fuse in the fuse panel under the dash spot number 6 on the diagram. Check that first. Mine was blowing that fuse as soon as I'd turn the key. From there good luck as you can see its not a simple fuse that only controls 1 thing. Mine turned out being the keyless entry box in the trunk

Remove clock .... install clock pod gauges.

That one runs a lot of items, radio, power locks, keyless entry, the hood lamp

Mine turned out to be a short at the hood lamp! PITA! Good luck!

the clock can be removed by pushing up and towards the windshield on the front top of it (if nobody already told you)

Just buy a new clock. Mine worked fine except when you turned the lights on. I tested it with a friends car and it was the clock. I have talked to a few other people whose clocks just stopped working. Evidentaly its a common problem, the local Ford dealership had it in stock.

mine would go off when I turned on the headlights and then after a while of that it completely stoped working. I bought one on ebay for 10 bucks and now i have a working clock again. if you take the clock out and take it apart you will probably be able to see where it shorted. it lookes like a little burn mark.

I took out the clock and opened it up. There is a burnish looking spot but its fairly rectangulaar which makes me think it might just be a brownish part of the clocks mobo because its geometric shape doesn't look sloppy enough to be a short.

I don't want to buy a new clock unless its deffinitely the probelm. I don't have another mustang to plug it into to test it so what other ways do u think i could diagnose the problem?

I dont know what the connections look like but you couldnt just touch the wires on the battery?

Hey does anybody know what wires go where and do what from the clock? A friend of mine has a mustang dash clock that he is trying to wire into his Ranger and he tried hooking power and ground up but it didnt work.. btw we plugged the clock into my dash clock harness and it works, so the clock isnt at fault.. Thanks

Wire colors: black, brown, white/purple, green, green/purple

if you want to check the clock out, get a test light and check which wire on the harness is the power (12V) and black is ground (usually always) so you could get a 12V DC adapter and try it in your house

There may be a problem with doing this however, I'm not sure if the clock has a backlight, or when the headlights are on, it triggers a relay within the clock or something (trigger most likely happens). so I would think it'd be green for 12V and black for 0V

Dude Replace the clock with a new unit..
Trust me it's the clock..
Mine had a large brown spot on the lcd and I replace it with a new one and works fine.
