So it's a nice day out and decide to take a little cruise. I'm at a major intersection waiting to make a right turn. A pedestrian was crossing so I had to wait for them to clear when I suddenly hear tires screeching. I glance up at my rearview mirror to see a Black Charger barreling towards me. This was not a "right turn only" lane so I guess he decided to try and bypass some traffic by jumping into the 3rd lane. Apparently he didn't count on someone else being there. I quickly move up and over as best I could but really all I could do was wait for the impact: bam, shatter! I shout out the usual string of curse words thinking "****, I just spent $1,200 to have the tranny rebuilt!" This car has been sitting for months. Meanwhile the Charger decides to take off. I can't give chase because the impact triggered the fuel cut-off and they had dealer plates. I was able to coast just enough to pull off of the street so I can check the damage. I didn't even want to get out of the damn car. lol I was expecting the worse but when I saw it, I can't tell you how relieved I was. Probably not even worth making a thread but I feel so fortunate I had to share the story.

Back to garage you go!

I figure it was his tire that got my bumper since most of it wiped right off by hand. I'll hit it with the buffer tomorrow.

Needless to say I was pissed about the other driving taking off but I'm thankful they had good reflexes As big as those cars are they must brake and maneuver pretty decent because it could have been much worse. It amazes me that a person would just drive away like that.

Call the cops. Black Chargers with dealer plates with damage should be easy to find. Id nail the SOB since he split.

I considered reporting it but wound up letting it go. I agree though, in principal that @$$hole should at least me put on record.

Might have been someone on a solo test drive, I'm sure the dealer would want to know if their car was damaged too.

I was hit and run in my Civic Hatch, my car was pushed all the way around and all I could see was the woman's expression before she blasted off in her Lexus. Never got her plate and the cops couldn't do much without it. In your case though it would be wise to file something with the police and if they can find him then great. As others have mentioned it shouldn't be a difficult car to locate. If they don't find it then you haven't lost anything but the time spent filling out the report.
