After eighteen months of working on my car, I can see the paint booth at the end of the tunnel
. Just to refresh everybody's memory, the car is a 65 coupe that was restored by the PO about 10 years ago. It has been an Arizona car for the past twenty five years and is rust free. It has a 302 with 11:1 compression, a Tremec 5 speed and 9 inch rear end. Despite the fact that it was rebuilt it never seemed properly finished off to me, a lot of little loose ends. Thanks to a lot of help from you guys
, during the last eighteen months I have:
Removed the engine, painted the block, replaced the intake, valve covers, water pump, fuel pump and oil pan.
Removed the transmission, the driveshaft, fuel tank, front and rear glass, all badges, bumpers, lights, mirrors, indicators and trim.
I have replaced the front valance with a fibergalss Shelby style from Branda. The rear valance has been replaced with a GT style one so the exhaust tips can protrude through it. This week I received the Shelby style fiberglass hood with steel frame from NPD.
After I get that fitted, its off to paint.
Plan for paint scheme is deep blue with white Shelby stripes. Colors which I am considering for the blue are Ford Sonic Blue, Toyota Blue Steel Metallic or Acura Blue Pearl. If anyone has another favorite deep blue then I'd welcome your suggestions.
