Make sure the slide caliper pins are tightened down (do not overly tighten these as they can strip easily), and second check to make sure the caliper bracket it securely tightened down to the spindle.
Could be a few other possibilities but these two, mainly the caliper slide pins (or even missing ones for that fact), are to blame for a clunking noise with brake application.
yep, gotta get under and check it all out. brakes load the suspension. it could be anything from LCA bushings to tie rods to anything else (in addition to what 87 GT said).
I have a similar noise, but it only appears when my motor is low-idling, or if I drive over a gradual hump (like an intersection) or turn sharply to the right. At first I thought it might be the after-market exhaust, which is tight in there. But I'm leaning towards rod/bearing issues.
It even can be heard when in park, if the car's at the right upward angle. Very irritating. But it always disappears when the rpm's go above 1k.
