OK, car has a "clunking sound" from the rear when taking off. It jerks roughly and then it stops. only does it at normal starts, when slowing down in liek 1st gear or really bad in reverse....

I HEARD that 79-93's use differant control arm bushings than 94-04's as the bolt hole in the bushings is bigger in 94-04's than 79-93's. any truth to this? It NEVER did this before I took it down for the winter and dropped the quadshocks and put my ProFab upper/lowers on, UPR spherical bushings in the rear, and rebuilt my motor.

Thanks.

Just check them to make sure they are OK. Other things to check:

1) Bad bushing on any of the 4 control arms
2) shock that is dead
3) Loose exhaust
4) Any play in the axles?

Those are the other things that I would be checking out. Sorry I don't have too much else to add, but good luck.

All 4 control arm bushings look good. I bought them brand new and its had this problem since Day 1, so i dont think thats the issue.

Shocks a lil less than a year old but Id sya its due itme to replace the SensaTracs LOL.

Exhaust is dumped before the rear axle.....and this is osmething in the rearend/suspension area since it jerks the car.

Posi is going out but I dont think its the internals of the rearend doing this. Like I said, i have a theory but i cant ifnd any evidence of this.

thanks so far guys!

does it whine? mine does the same thing....pop the diff cover off and check the backlash....its probably excessive....ive got everything i need for a complete new rear end and the knowledge of how to do it, i just dont have the tools to put it in yet. The 3.55's in it now are gone from the previous owners beating, you didnt even need a dial indicator, you could feel it when you moved it with your hand
