How much slack is in the cable? Are you sure the cable isn't stretching on you? With some slight preload on the cable it should release a couple of inches off the floor at least. What kinda of quadrant/cable do you have?

You might want to try a non-adjustable Ford cable

Like HISSIN50 stated get yourself a better cable, The OEM cable has proven over and over to be the best cable for these cars. Maximum motorsports sells it and also a full kit with a very good quad and FWA ( although there are a few out there better for this one piece although mine works great) I'm a huge fan of MMS quad and run one with the OEM cable.

Here is my standard clutch adjustment responce and IMHO the the way to go...

The clutch needs to adjusted for function not for feel. Properly adjusted the clutch will engage about 1/2 way up it's travel( about 2inch or so off the floor). A clutch that grabs off the floor is adjusted to loose and causes problems like difficulty putting into gear, rolling on flat surfaces and premature clutch wear. A clutch that grabs to high ( adjusted to tight or a worn clutch if adjustment will not fix the problem) can cuase it to be constantly disenganging when driving like riding the clutch. also you need that inch to 1/2 inch of play in the pedal if not then it's way to tight but to much slack and the clutch might not be disengaging all the way.....about 2inches off the floor and about 1 inch of play is the way to go.

Best of luck

got under car and tightend nut and got clutch to engage around half pedal verses at floor , solved my problem putting in gear,, but my pilot bearing seems noisy ,it new ,is it because its to tight on pressure plate maybe? maybe cluth cable is bad, it engages properly now but alot of load on throwout bearing,,

If the noise is the pilot or throw you are going to have a tear down on your hands, it's not going to get any better. something isn't right and you need to pull it apart and check. how is the cable routed? how did the fork look? either way I would get it apart and start looking because no good will come if left alone. also still might want to ditch the cable for a better one

sorry ,didnt mean pilot bearing ,,its the throw out bearing i was talking about, its new, alont with clutch, press plat, and pilot bearing, also new clutch fork,is it normal for the throw out bearing to have press on it? maybe its normal, all is good now just didnt think throw out bearing should be contacting press plate all the time ,but its the only way i have good engagement and release, pedal feals good..

Get the car up to about 2K rpms in 5th gear and mash the go pedal, if the rpms jump up, but you don't gain much speed then your clutch is slipping and your adjustment is too tight.
