Is anyone running a clutch cable setup on thier 65-66? If so, do you have any pictures of your headers. I am thinking about running Doug Thorley Tri Y headers. My Modern Driveline clutch cable says that this header works well with their setup. Does anyone have them on their car? Also, do they make access to the spark plugs a real pain in the rear?

What are the other headers that have a similar name? There is Dougs headers and Thorley headers. Are they completely differen't from Doug Thorley?

Does anyone have another quality header that works exceptionally well with a Modern Driveline clutch cable?

Do you already have the cable clutch setup? If not just get a hydraulic conversion kit. They wont interfere with anything and you wont see an ugly cable in your engine compartment. Plus the hydraulic feels much smoother.

I already have the clutch cable. I actually like the way the cable clutches feel.

I appreciate the advice though.

I run dougs headers with my cable clutch. I have the Mustang Steve converison. I have no problems at all.

Do you have Doug's headers or Doug Thorley headers? Are they different companies?

Are yours Tri-Y's? You don't happen to have a part number for the ones you have do you?

How is the access to the spark plugs?

Modern Driveline's website says the following.

The cable will clear Headman 88660, Doug Thorley Tri-y, Hi-Po manifolds, stock manifolds, shorty headers and Hooker super comps when protected properly.

Mustang Steve's site says that Tri-Y is problematic.

I'm interested in either the DT Tri-Y or the Hooker SC. Maybe I would be better off with the Hooker super comps.

Anyone have the Modern Driveline clutch cable for 302 T5? What headers do you have and how do they fit with your setup?

I recieved emails back from Modern Driveline and Mustangs Unlimited. Modern Driveline says the hedman headers are the best fit. Their website says to go with these. Mustangs Unlimited said to go with Hedmans but didn't say which ones. According to Summit they are for a 351. I have a 302. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Mustangs Unlimited emailed me again and said to go with Hedman 88300. I was looking at the Hedman elite 88308, because they are thicker walled tubing have a thicker flange and are ceramic coated.

Call Headman and ask what the right PN is.

I have had JBAs and Headmans. The Headmans fit much better.

I have Hedman shorty headers with the Modern Driveline clutch cable setup. No problems with clearance!
The sparkplugs closest to the firewall (DS & PS side) cannot be accessed without a thin wall socket.

I have been reading that quite a few people have gone with shorty headers to accomodate thier clutch cable. I hope I don't have to run shorty headers. I want to run full length, beisdes that the shop that is building my engine says to run full length headers. Does anyone have the 88308 Hedman headers.

I am thinking about going with these mid length headers.

JBA 1650SJS - JBA Cat4ward Headers - summitracing.com

I have done quite a bit of reading online and in some forums. Its seems that there really are not any full length headers that work well with a clutch cable. It doesn't seem to matter if it is Mondern Driveline or Mustang Steve.

Does anyone have these JBA mid length headers?

I originally tried the Hedman 88300 full length, but they were in the way. They drop too low for the clutch cable to connect. That's why I had to change to shorty headers.

If you want the full length, then I would have to say go with a hydraulic clutch setup.

FPA makes headers that fit great. I have a set of their full lengths with the modern driveline cable clutch and there are no problems with clearance.

I know about the Ford Powertrain Headers. A few people really like them. They are out of my price range for coated ones. I just can't afford 800 dollars for them.
