clutch cable routing

just need to know how to route the clutch cable...

i did a search but came up with no answers, just how to remove and install adjustable ones. from what i saw it looks like it goes down and thru the frame?

please help asap

From the quadrant it goes pretty much straight through the firewall and into the engine compartment. Then it attaches to the sidewall and routes down near the steering column and connects to the clutch fork.

yea, i pretty much knew that

all i need to know is how it goes from the fire wall down to the fork...

i have it bent right now so its still ontop of the frame, looks like its touching my header and the steering column... just dosent look right

ill try and find a pic to show what i mean

is it going through one of those holes in tha a-arm?

I'm not sure if this helps you or not but I have mine routed under the headers and across the top of the K-member.

yeah it goes right in front of the motor mount there and on top of the k member...im pretty sure

The only thing chromed on that engine is some chrome bolts and some other small nick nacks. He spent A LOT of time and hard work on that engine hand polishing it. Trust me, it's a lot of work.

I did this last week, and routed to throught the k member, I think, I'll take some pics in a little bit.

fyi, you shouldn't be using an adj cable, but anyhow, the routing showed in the picture (the greasy cob webbed one ) is correct.

i've verfied this routing as well by checking on other stock mustangs.

it's got to go as far forward as possible, before going down, under, and back. if it's wrong, you'll know it. the pedal will be stiff as all hell.

Enlighten "us" as to why we shouldn't be using adjustable clutch cables... other than the fact that they are supposed to be self-adjusting.

actually, they are manually adjusting, you adjust them yourself, vs that plastic self adjuster under the dash

-it is a pain in the ass to jack up the car and pull the cover off, crawl under on your back and adjust, much easier to get a firewall adjuster

-most importantly, ALL of the adjustable cables are complete garbage. They are all pretty much made by one company somewhere before they get filtered down and distributed to all of the different vendors to lable them as their own.
The build quality on the adjustable cables is really, really bad and almost always within x amount of time (usually sooner rather than later) they will stretch and snap, leaving you stranded. The only alternative is to use an oem non adjustable cable and a good firewall adjuster. ALthough the oem cables are now made in taiwan, they still, by far have the best build quality.

That is maximum motorsports take on the adjustable cables. They say the exact same thing I just said, and show pictures of the cables for comparison sakes. Also, do a search here, and at www.corral.net for "adjustable cables" and you'll pull up hundreds of threads with people testifying how crappy theirs was.

I assumed, probably like everyone else that's what he was talking about... a firewall adjustable cable. Although mine can be adjusted from the firewall or clutch-fork, I will only use the clutch-fork setting for my intial setting, then will use the firewall adjuster. I think we are on the same page.

MM makes the best stuff around, hands down IMO, but did you expect them to dog the quality of thier clutch-cable compared to others in hopes to sell more of them? I have not seen a company yet that tells you their product is crap upfront, then try like hell to sell it to you.

from what their site says, they did stop selling their mm adjustable cable because of this reason, and now only sell Fords cable.
