Tried the search engine but it keeps taking me to a blank page

Already broke 2 Zoom clutch cables...is the FRPP adjustable any better or is there a better one? Already have the new quadrant just need the cable

Thanks

I havent ever broken a cable either, but I know people who have. Word on the street is that the best setup to run is an OEM cable with a firewall adjuster. That is the setup I have and even though I havent had the car out since I put the 5-speed in it, everyone is telling me that is the best way to go. Avoid the adjustable cables, they are trouble more often than the OEM cable. Make sure its a Ford cable as well, as the aftermarkets are prone to stretching.

This isnt intended to be the gospel, it is just the info that I have gathered from years of being involved with these cars. Hope it helps.

I use an adjustable cable and a firewall adjuster.....of course i mainly use the firewall adjuster for fine tuning the adjustment and ive never had a problem. Ive used the BBK cables, UPR cables...whatever I had at the time.

I have heard about the stock cable/firewall adjuster set up as well, but have never tried it personally.

Ive heard some bad things about the adjustable ones snapping but how would them being adjustable make them more prone to breaking? Both mine broke but they were no where near the clutch fork

I bought my Ford OEM cable from maximum motorsports, the clutch pedal effort is really light...I do have a firewall adjuster from a different kit. The first cable just plain sucked with pedal effort and the second one broke while I was banging gears. So far the Ford OEM cable has cleared up all issues.

It used to be that this was only getting asked once every week; now it's getting to be an every other day question. Browse through a few of these bajillion threads...

...and you'll find that the general consensus is:

OEM Ford non-adjustable cable + firewall adjuster (FWA) + aluminum quadrant = :nice:

SERIOUSLY, can we PLEASE make some kinda sticky about this for the Tech and/or 5.0 Talk forum(s)?

Because as stated in the original post, the search engine was bringing up a "page cannot be found" error
