Clutch Engages from floor to top
I have a question about the clutch in my '98 GT. I installed a new clutch cable and quadrant, it seemed to help the feel & effort of the clutch, but it still engages weird.
It starts to engage within 1 inch of coming up off the floor, but doesn't fully engage until the pedal is almost completely up.
So, when I take off from a dead stop, it looks like I don't know how to drive a stick because I have to rev it the whole time I am letting the clutch out. The only way around this is to rev it up and let 'er go, which results in a big burnout.
Any ideas what the problem is? Maybe a warped flywheel or pressure plate? I don't feel any pulsing from the pedal until it is completely up, but I think that is because I left about 1/2" of play in the pedal. I bought the car with 82,000 miles, and it has 83,000 on it now, so I really don't have any background information on the car.
Thanks!
