Clutch Fork and TKO???

I believe I read somewhere that a new modified clutch fork, longer I think, is preferable when installing a TKO in a mustang. I just ordered my TKO 600 and a McLeod bellhousing. Could someone please fill me in on whether I should be investing in a new fork as well? Any info or links to information would be great.

An extended clutch fork is something you should get for a scattershield bellhousing. I ran the stock one with my mcleod bellhousing, but I really needed an extended. AFM sells one. I'm trading my friend for his stock tremec bell so I won't need an extended fork now.

So its a bellhousing issue not a tranny issue. How much longer is the modified fork? What difference does it make, exactly? Thanks, Pat.

It allows for better clutch cable alignment. Its about 1" longer than stock I believe or slightly less.

I AM BUYING A NEW TKO AND AM UNSURE WHICH ONE TO GET.MY MAIN CONCERN IS THE FIRST GEAR RATIO SINCE I AM USED TO MY STOCK 1991 T5 .THE CAR 60FTS 1.60 NOW WITH 3.73 AND 27" TALL ET STREETS.WILL THE TKO 600 WITH THE LOW 2.87 MAKE IT A PIG OUT OF THE HOLE? THANKS FOR ANY HELP.
