clutch going bad? or low fluid?

Lame, we're talking fox bodies I'm sure.

What's lame is when people like Look It's Aaron post smartass, useless comments when a guy is trying to figure out what's wrong with his car. I think the guy knows the difference between hydraulic and cable clutches now.

*ahem* the lockers bad bro. I mashed it in 2nd and she created only 1 line :(. Any suggestions as to which locker i should buy?

You have a couple options. You can go ahead and replace the factory unit with something like an auburn or powertrax unit, which are a definite improvement over the factory unit (pricey w/ install)

Or you can have the clutches replaced in your factory unit; I think the trak-lok rebuild kit costs in the neighborhood of $125 (plus labor to install).

If you don't currently have gears, now would be an excellent time to step up to a 3.55 or 3.73 while the posi's being fixed/replaced.

Agh, understood :D. I appreciate the help - I'm pretty sure the lockers the cure to my slowed e.t.. I guess what happened is; with the bigger tires, it bit hard & stopped my drivers side tire and the passanger spun to the moon causing those high-revs out of the box. It had me nervous being that i'm a racer on a budget. But 125 sounds like something i could swing to rebuild the posi. She went 14.4 on one leg, after the rebuild i'll let you guys know what she turns the clocks @.

(yeah... i know it's cable now guys... I had a book that said something about a hydraulic clutch... my mistake relax o.O)

What's really more lamer even then that is your avatar and the fact that you make no sense what so ever smartass. If he had put a hydraulic clutch in a fox then I and I'm sure others would like to see how he did it.

Posting a pic of an 05 Mustang for it's hydraulic clutch is just rediculous since we're discussing 5.0's/fox bodies/etc...

The dude wasn't saying "show me a hydraulic clutch in a mustang" to see a hydraulic clutch in a mustang. He was doing it to put down the guy who originally posted the question, hence stang8's reply. Why waste time replying if you're not going to at least help the guy figure out his problem or even simply explain that our cars have cable clutches and to look elsewhere for trouble. I wasn't trying to harsh on you personally; just maybe offer an idea as to why the stang8 showed "look it's wise-ass" a mustang with a hydraulic clutch. People come here looking for help and opinions; not to be made fun of because they're just getting started in the hobby. I'm not going to get into an argument here; if you want to make fun of mudvayne or my car, feel free.

Just hop in a 96' and up stang.

If it were hydraulic however, the symptoms would be the same for a worn-out clutch disc or pressure plate. Like someone said earlier, put it in top gear and floor it, if the rpm's rise and your speed doesn't or does so very little - then it is one of the two or both that were stated.

To the poster who has difficulty putting into first gear, your clutch adjustment is way too loose, that's it. Tighten the adjustment.

I've heard that the k/c clutches don't like slicks. I wouldn't be surprised. they're great clutches, but not desigined to take constant slicks abuse, you could have overheated it and slipped it.

hey guys, I've hear that some fox's did indeed come with a hydraulic clutch, and that ford had leftover hydraulic clutches from the turbo coupes or something, and I've seen people swear their car came with one oem. There was a thread on this here not too long ago.

If it is for first gear difficulty in engaging the gear only, then it is not a clutch adjustment. I'de place my money on the blocking ring's dog teeth just worn out. If it were the clutch adjustment, then why not gears 2-5 plus reverse, they go through the exact same process to engage their gears as first does - do they not?

For the stock clutch-packed L/s unit, I have heard an estimate of about 15-25 hard passes at the strip on slicks before they go burning up. don;t quote me on this but I have heard of many reporting numbers within this range before the clutches were toasted.

OH sorry i forgot to tell you guys its hard to put my car in reverse, about 68% of the time, it sucks when you bust a u-turn on a two lane highway and you got cars heading for you and you cant get the car into reverse....try it it you think your out of adrenaline :notnice:
