When my clutch is disengaged I hear a constant whirring noise. When I push it in it goes away (sounds like it spins down then goes away). Dosent grind, goes into every gear easy. What could be the culprit?
When the clutch pedal is at rest (out), the clutch is engaged (not to be a putz, but I wanna make sure we're on the same page).
Do you have any slack in the cable? You can dial out any slack there might be and see how it does (cable operated clutches really shouldnt have any slack in 'em).
MHO.
Good luck
If there's no slack in the cable, I'd agree with Mike. If it's bothersome, you could try and add a tiny bit more preload into the cable [if you're right at the beginning of having preloaded the cable]. It might quiet it up.
I agree with everyone else that its the throw out bearing.Might as well check everything else out since your going to have to pull the tranny to fix it.good luck
