welp, its here the T-5 conversion...

now can somebody tell me how the hell I'm supposed to put in the clutch pedal?

any tips would be great...

should I WD40 the clutch pedals remove all the nasty rust and stuff off? and throw on the aluminum quadrant clutch pedal when I go to put it in there?

You should definitley swap out the stock quadrant for the aluminum piece while you have the pedals out. The pedals are a major PITA. Do yourself a favor and do the quadrant while they're out so you never have to look at pedals again. Cause that's the way I feel about them after getting them out, then in.

To get the pedals out, you must:

- Take out the entire center consoll (use a Chilton's or something for all the minor details, screw locations & so forth)
- Take off all of the plastics underneath the steering column, including the metal plate.
- Take the bezel off of the gauges, then remove the gauges. (I had to do this to re-route the speedo cable....it's not bad at all)
- Unclip all of the wires from the steering column.
- Take off the bracket for the hood release and get that out of the way
- Remove the drivers seat
- Take out the 4 remaining bolts holding up the steering column & drop it out of the way. Just make sure all the wires are disconnected first. It will kind of hang there after that.
- Now you can remove the brake light switch and disconnect the brake pedal.
- On the upper section of the pedal assembly there's, I think, 1 bolt & 1 nut to remove. Take those out.
- Now I believe you only have the 4 nuts holding the assembly to the firewall. HINT: Instead of messing around with a ratchet to get the firewall nuts off (because there's not much room to maneuver) use a really long (24") extension with a ratchet. This allows you to have the ratchet out from under the dash, and have plenty of room to move.
- If I remeber correctly, that's it, now you just have to "caress" them out of there, and "really caress" the new ones in. I had someone help me to move the column where I needed it, because I had to move it all around.

GOOD LUCK!!! I'm not sure if I remebered every detail, so anyone else can add things I forgot.

i just did my t-5 conversion last weekend......the pedals are a bitch to put in.....the rest is easy. took me about 6 hours to do the whole swap.

really strange feeling when driving your car for the first time with the t-5 after all that time of it being an auto....

the difference in performance for me was night and day. free up HP and also shave about 100 pounds off the car. that AOD is a heavy bastard

I just listed everything that I moved out of the way. You need to take out the consol because you have to cut about an inch of metal for the shifter to fit. And everything else I listed is what I did to change the pedals.

I took the pedals out of my donor car a week earlier so I cut some time on swap day. The car I took them out of was a donor car so I pretty much cut everything out of the way & had them out in about an hour.

To take out the auto pedals & put the others in; about 2-3hours. A real pain.

As for the difference in the car.....HUGE!!! I only had a stock AOD, but this feels like a completely different car. I must say that it is pretty weird getting in you car for the 1st time after it's been an auto the whole time I've owned it.
