clutch pedal position ...hmm

On my car the clutch will start to catch a little half way up but it doesnt really fully catch till its about 3/4's or 7/8's of the way up. I tryed pulling up on the clutch pedal but i didnt hear it rachet. Is this normal? Ive been trying to chase a few transmission problems and wanted to make sure this is ok first. My buddy who has owned a bunch of stangs said it was normal and he just throws an ajustable linkage in there. What do you guys think..

My clutch, last week, would catch about half way out. This week, after a big burnout I did at work, it only catches about 7/8 of the way out. I don't know if that is what happened in your case, but it feels way different now on mine. I tried to let the clutch out way too slow when doing my burnout, and it fried the snot out of the clutch. I don't know if this helps you at all, but if not consider this a bump.

Time to start thinking clutch I bet.

My car catches at about the same place. Stock clutch, 130k miles. Went out for a little terrorizing the other night and after a couple "agressive attempts at acceleration" (no traction... tee hee)... my clutch started getting grabby and I even felt it slip a little... now it catches jsut a little bit higher...

but right now I am jsut trying to buy time so I can save up to not be in debt due to my car.

Get an adjustable clutch cable kit from UPR,Steeda or whom ever. It's a good investment.

Something I don't understand is how people say to adjust your clutch cable with the stock firewall adjuster thing you have to lift up on your pedal? Well that never worked for me. Maybee the older foxes, but later on I was watching the speed channel and they installed a clutch on a '96 and with the stock firewall components they said to adjust the clutch pedal they press the clutch in and out a series of 3 or 4 times. I tried this on mine and it definatley tightens the cable up. On the older foxbody mustangs though I beleive you lift up on the clutch pedal with your foot though.
