I did a search and couldn't find anything specifically to help out.

I am trying to remove my pedals to install CJ Pony parts roller bearing pedal kit, and I am having a bit of trouble removing the clutch pedal and brake pedal. I get all the pushrods loose, and the cotter pin holding the actual pivot shaft off, but I can only seem to get the shaft out about a few inches before it wont budge any more. I pull and pry on the clutch pedal, but the shaft won't slide out far enough to the left for me to get the brake pedal loose. Is there perhaps some sort of trick you guys know to getting these things out? It is on a 66 with a 3 speed.

I was hoping I didn't have to get the pedal support completely out, but maybe someone will tell me differently

I guess I also have an issue with the holes in the pedal support. I got my kit from California pony cars, and the roller bearings and round. The holes that my old pot metal bushings came out of are oblong :nono: Am I dealing with a unique pedal support, or am I going to have to fab something up to fit in the gap so that the roller bushing can't shift and move around when I start putting pressure on the pedal. It would seem that pressing the clutch and brake alternatively would have the whole assembly shift about in the oblong holes.

Anyone run into this problem? Again, I searched but most people welded theirs in, or used other kits from NPD and such. I can take pictures if need be.

Thanks!

I have the roller bearing kit, and didnt have any problems installing it...the reason i was installing it in mine, was i was replacing the whole assembly..the clutch and brake had actually started to shift and warp because it was digging into the medal creating that "oblong" shape..only thing i could do was replace the entire unit, and then installed the roller bearing kit as an extra bonus...i dont know if u have the same problem or not..

My holes in the support are oblong from the factory. They are clean cut out, and not from wear on the bushings. The bushings fit in perfectly and were oblong from wear, BUT the support hole cut for the bushings are oblong as well, from the factory. There are 2 flat edges on the holes, making a sort of oval shape.

When I put the roller bearing in there, its allowed to slop around side to side... I'm beginning to think my support is somehow different. You can see the old potmetal bushing on the other side still in.

hmm..thats very strange..ok, few things to look at here

1. did you order the correct roller bearing kit for the correct year?

2. Are you sure the opening is oblong shaped from the factory, its hard to tell from the opening shown, is the other opening with the potmetal busing oblong as well?

3. We might need another opinion on this one? If all else faild, ill crawl under and take a look at mine..its been a long time since i did the install and cant remember if the hole was circular shaped or oblong....

I wanted that pic to show...lets try again. Also, it might be factory for another vehicle...falcon??? I believe the factory Mustang support was not painted, but bare metal.

thats a much better pic than mine....in my car, mine was just like the one shown, circular..so carbine, you might have a different part, or its just worn to some weird perfect shape lol :rlaugh:

My trans is a 3 speed from a fairlane... maybe the owner transfered over the 3 speed and pedals as well?

Funny thing is the car was a factory 3 speed, and I can't see ford putting in a fairlane trans and pedal support.... The roller bearing sits in fine, its just the oblong shape lets it slide back and forth. Worst case I'll just put something in the empty space to keep the roller from moving around. Just weird cause the pedal support seems exactly the same as a mustang one, with the oblongness..... makes no real sense. And I got the right parts, and the other bushing has an oblong hole too.
