Clutch Pedal Switch

I think thats what makes the connection with the computer thats a best guess, I can check my magic book or @jrichker or @90sickfox can help
Hmm. I thought the starter safety switch doubled as the cruise control cut off. The starter safety switch has two harness plugs. I thought one was to control the starter and the other to kill the cruise. Then, there 's this other on on the other side that I'm trying to figure out what it does. I could be wrong

Looking closer at that pic... I have no idea what that is. I don't recall ever seeing a switch like that below the quadrant.
The cruise control vacuum runs to a vacuum switch at the brake pedal.. Cruise control uses the brake switch.
Can you find the wire colors or where it connects to ?

I think that deactivates the Flux capacitor so if you have the clutch in at 88mph you will not have a malfunction during time travel.

The one in the pic is the cruise control dump
The two on the pedal arm are the starter interrupter, and the Nuetral sense circuit

I just did some exploratory test driving.
As you know, the starter safety switch engages when you push the clutch pedal completely to the floor. You can see that it functions that way when you look under there and push the pedal down. This other switch over on the quadrant side is closed when the clutch pedal is in released position. It opens almost immediately when you begin to depress the clutch.
I drove along with cruise set at 50mph. Tapped the brake and the cruise shut off. Reset cruise to 50mph and continued. I slightly depressed the clutch (didnt touch the brake), and the cruise shut off.
Conclusion: The switch pictured does actually shut off the cruise.

I understand the starter interrupter.
I'm curious, how does the neutral sense circuit play a role in the 5spd application? What about the clutch position has anything to do with the trans being in neutral or not?
I've been learning about these switches because I'm chasing an issue with stalling when I push the clutch in. But I have more info on that (whole other subject) LOL I'll start another thread about that.

Let's the computer know it's in gear or not. Idle and emission strategy is effected or altered based on in gear or in neutral states.

No, it's let's the computer know if the trans is in neutral. Technically speaking, clutch down means engine should be coming to idle. Not really clutch position. NGS(neutral gear switch) is the correct term for the switch. As well as the switch on the side of the trans. They work in unison to provide the computer the input for in gear or in neutral.

That switch wasn't in my 89 and it was 5 speed and had cruise. Unless I don't remember. I've had the pedal assembly out several times and never saw that switch.

Its weird for me. If I go out and have a few beers then come home, last thing I want to do is start working on car, or at least I cant seem to get it going. However, If I walk into my garage basically sober with a fridge full of beer, I can start drinking and work on cars all night long while continuing to drink. But I've gotten wise and avoid any test driving late in the process
Not as long as it can close and make a connection when you press clutch in.
If you take off both plugs, a 5A blade fuse fits in the plug perfectly
