Clutch Problem? Or Synchro Problem?

Just recently my 1987 5.0, started grinding 3rd gear. Not just on hard shifts at the track (Which i stopped going to once the problem began), but on daily driving lighter shifts as well. It's the only gear that's doing this, as every other one is perfect. I thought at first it was the synchros, so before going into 3rd, i would allow the RPM's to drop a bit, then try shifting again. It didn't work, 3rd gear grinds violently every time. The only thing i have done that keeps it from grinding is double clutching, when i double clutch the problem subsides. Now i know that's not getting rid of the problem, just keeping it from getting worse, but how can i tell if it's really the synchros or if i just need to drop 300 bucks on a new clutch? All feedback and advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Its the synchros. It would do it in every gear if it was the clutch. I would pull the tranny and do it now before you have to pay $100 for a 3rd gear.
