Have a motorsport clutch that i put in when i got the car about 6 months ago. when cold, its a dream, lets up about halfway from the floor and has a good feel. however, when hot it gets much stiffer and and barely lets up at the floor! i have to press it through the floor it seems just to shift. i checked out the cable and its fine, although the mounting bracket to the frame was snapped off. i replaced the bracket and its a little better, but still horrible when hot. What could this be? its really becomeing a PITA! also, when changing the fluid i used dexron III as stated in the manual and on here, is that correct? TIA

Is the clutch cable near the headers (the snapped bracket and heat-related comments really made me wonder)? If not the issue now, the cable might have gone south already from heat.

Good luck.

Yes, i have aftermarket headers and they stick out further than the stockers. when i realized the bracket was broken, the cable was less than an inch away from them. i figured it was ok because there was no external damage to the cable. it is much much better now that it is mounted correctly away from them. however, you are probably right in that the damage was already done. question is, what the best bet for a replacement cable? autozone has them for around $30, but that seems to inexpensive. the ford dealer can order on for somewher over $200!!! thats insane. is there any stock style replacement thats known to hold up well and not cost a small fortune?

Opinions will differ - I got a non-adjustable OEM style cable from Diversified - 50 bucks to my door.

Good luck.
