Hey, I noticed last weekend, there was a loud screeching coming from the engine right when I started it up. I only happens when the clutch pedal is in. After about 5 mins it goes away, but not all the way, you can sort of hear it all the time, but very quiet. I had to drive about 100 miles back home that day, and about 3/4 of the way back, I was smelling burning brake pads and smoke started to come out of the hood. All the temp levels were fine. I'm guessing it was the clutch brake. Shifting still seemed fine through the whole way. I was hoping my shop could just adjust the plates a little, but they said it was a hydrolic, and they'd need to replace the whole thing.
Does this in fact seem like what the problem is, or is it something worse like the tranny or something. There are about 120k on it, so it would be about time for the clutch.
