Can I use a N/A clutch on a SVO flywheel? I have the SVO bell housing and flywheel. I am converting a auto to t-5. Autozone here in Denver has the N/A clutch for 79.00 but the SVO setup is 140.00 bucks. I have a N/A car so I am not putting out the big horsepower. If the pressure plate housing fits on either one, I figure that using the n/a clutch only means that the outer rim of the machined flywheel surface is not being used.

Another question, where does one get the clutch linkage parts? The small piece of cable that runs from the clutch fork to the torque rod on the side of the bellhousing and the part that connects to the cable to the torque rod? I went to the local mustang salvage yard and I think the guy bent me over for the parts.

Mad props to Dr. E for the advice to keep the turbo stuff.

Later,

Brew

Nope not unless you can dig up an N/A flywheel. The SVO and Turbo Coupes used a bigger diameter clutch. The flywheel is different as is the pressure plate. They look the same, but the bolt pattern is different.

EDIT: As to the second part of your post, The cable you're referring to is commonly called the "dogbone" cable. Head back to autozone and have the red shirt look up a clutch cable for... oh... let's say a '91 Mustang 2.3. The computer will ask him about a 2" cable or a 55 or 60" cable. Tell him you want the 2" cable and you'll have your dogbone. The Pioneer part number is CA-653(went and found my spare )

The clevises to hook the cables up are still available from Ford. I don't have the part number handy since I can't seem to locate the reciept in my reciept drawer in my tool box. It's 5 bucks or so for just the clevis. The pin and clip does not come with it. I never had the part number for the pin, I used a shoulder bolt and trimmed the excess off so it wouldn't hit or rub anything.

Thanks for the info. I guess I have to go and shell out more bucks than I thought.

I appreciate the info on the dogbone as well sort of. I realize I did get bent over on those parts though.
