I am having trouble shifting my car during normal driving. But during hard shifts at higher rpm's it shifts fine. The trans is a TKO 600, clutch is a Spec stage 2, have an adjustable cable and firewall adjuster. Do i have a clutch adjustment issue or a synchro problem with the tranny? Everything was brand new when installed and has about 700 miles on it now. Thanks in advance for the help.

Does it do it in all gears?

Did you use the right fluid for the trans?

Good luck.

yeah it will do it in all gears. i am using the same exact fluid as my buddy, which is the GM friction modified stuff, with the same trans and his shifts fine.

I determine slipage this way: drive down a long section of road or highway (at the speed limit) in 5th or 4th gear. Without shifing, apply the gas to accelerate. If the speed increases with the RPM's than your clutch isn't slipping. If your RPM's go up without an increase in speed than your clutch is slipping.

This might help you diagnose your problems.

one way to tell if you have enough clutch air gap for good clean shifts is from a stop hold the clutch all the way to the floor and in first gear slowly let out untill you see the rpm's start to drop, you should have lifted your foot at least 1-2 inches before it started to drop. If it is less than that you need to tighten your clutch cable a little.

It sounds like you need to tighten up your clutch cable a little bit, just don't over-do it.

i will try adjusting the cable next time i take the car out. the pedal is also very stiff, much more so than my buddies with same set up, any areas i should look for cable bind?

Misrouting of the cable itself can cause binding or tough travel. You want the cable to make a sweeping arc. And check the cable near the headers (esp if you have LT's) for sheath damage.

Good luck.
