Cobra brake kit

this whole thread, and its links (especially the honda one) has got me thinking about a lot of things.


my car with stock brakes and ssbc pads and rotors will lock up the wheels at highway speeds. but at town speeds like, 40ish, if i slam on them, the pedal will be hard and barely stop the car. last hear before my heads/cam it did not do that. i just figured that its related to the vacuum my cam makes which is only 12 at idle.

You know i had SS lines, hawk pads, cross drilled brakes on my stock setup and let me tell you even though they felt OK..this car can use something bigger fade is definitely an issue. A BIG ISSUE.....

When my stock brakes were in good working order with newish fluid, I had an issue coming to a halt from 75mph. Fade was bad right near the end of the stop. For the next couple of minutes, the pedal felt very weak, until I pulled over and let things cool off. Ever since I got my stang when it was nearly new, the braking was always subpar.

What I notice with the Cobra brakes is that there is less effort required to come to a stop. No fade at all, unlike before. In no way was I going to replace the stock brakes with stock stuff, since Cobra brakes were just about the same price and do have benefits over stock (let alone the visual improvement). Stainless lines are the only way to go, too.

I replace my brake fluid every 12 months, so that's never been an issue.

I should also state that my braking now is greatly enhanced by the suspension upgrades. The rear suspension gets completed next month, so that should help just a little more too. Brake dive in my current setup is very very noticeably less than stock.

If car "A" can stop from 60mph in 135 feet with stock brakes, then why do better and larger brakes stop the same car from 60 in 122 feet? Same tires, same fluid, same stopping location, same speed, same fuel level, same everything.
