Ok ive found a pretty good deal on a set of cobra calipers and rotors. Do i need to get mounting plates or will these bolt up to GT? does anyone just sell the mounting brackets also??

How much does it usually run to turn 4 rotors also??

Are ceramic pads worth it also. Anyone goet experience with them. Are they really that "UNDUSTY"??

THanks

For the front, the calipers mount right up. You don't need any brackets (you do for the rear brakes though, in which case you can buy a kit from FRPP.)

Make sure you pick up a pair of either heavy duty rubber or braided SS lines, but they should probably come with what you're ordering.

Sorry, I don't know the other two answers.

Are you 100% b/c i just called an auto parts store and they said ill need a bracket to since that rotor is so much larger i will need to relocate the caliper?

i also ran across a pair of 01 bullitt calipers, does anyone know if these will fit too? They dont look the same as the cobra calipers but i believe they are for 13" rotors? Thanks

:nice:

I believe what they're talking about is the pad carrier. When you get reman. calipers (i.e. from said parts store) all you get is the caliper, not the pad carrier. If you look at the picture of the Bullitt calipers you'll see the red portion and then the black one around it...the black is the pad carrier.

On a related note, I'm in the process of doing the same brake upgrade. I really didn't feel like fronting the extra $$ for the Cobra rears since the rear brakes aren't that effective, but yet I wanted the rears to match the fronts (red powdercoating). Then I found some at Auto Zone. They're $69 for a pair of red or yellow powdercoated rears with a $53 core. After you take the cores back it looks to be a pretty good deal, plus you wouldn't have any down time waiting for your own getting painted...:nice:

The stock GT/V6 spare wont fit over the Cobra 13" brakes so you need to get a spare tire from a Cobra/Bullitt/or Mach or run with no spare in the trunk and take your chances.

There is a way around it if you run the same size tires/wheels on all 4s. With this setup if you get a flat on the front you rotate the rear tire from that side to the front then put your GT spare on the back. Again this only works if you keep the GT rears factory.

Can't really answer the question about turning. I've been around European cars for so long and their rotors are so thin that when it comes time to replace the pads there isn't enough rotor left to legally turn them. The price on plain Brembo rotors isn't too bad. If you follow this link to the Tire rack you can see the reviews on a lot of different pads as well as the rotors. Personally I think I'm going with the Brembo pads and rotors on my Bullitt calipers...

They are the same caliper.

The tops ones are bullitt calipers, the bottom one are Mach 1 calipers painted red.

All 13" brake calipers are the same basically. The 94-98's have a 38mm piston while the 99=04's have a 40mm piston. Regular Cobra calipers are black or dark gray with white or silver COBRA on them. Bullitt calipers are red with a white pony emblem on them. Mach 1 calipers are plain, and painted black. 10th anniversay Cobra calipers are red with white COBRA lettering. Then you get the aftermarket Baer calipers which are the same. They are all the same basic PBR caliper.

Here's my custon painted Cobra calipers. Main thing to look for the are round circular holes where the pad clips clip in. The GT's do not have there and just have the half-open semi-circles. You can also see the caliper bracket is larger to bolt onto the spindle. All you need is a loaded caliper like this, a 13" rotor and 94-98 cars need new brake lines.
