i just got my front and rear calipers in the other day. they are the plain silver/aluminum color right now. i was thinking of painting them either red or black just to clean them up a little. just spray the whole caliper and then sand down the "cobra" to bare aluminum again. i cant decide which would look better on my car. i have alot of silver/black on my car. the only red is on the saleen emblems. so what would look the best??

it was a tough call between red and black, but i went with black for your color car. i personally am going to go red but that is because of the color of my car.

If buyfordracing.com had the Black Cobra Brake kit in stock when I went to buy em, I would have black - but they didn't so I opted for red, then I painted my stock rears to match.

My vote went for BLACK. But you won't go wrong with red. Just don't do yellow or any other queer friggin rice color.

Best of Luck!

Ummm, not to be a dick or anything, but it's pretty obvious isn't it? The auto parts store. AutoZone, Advanced Auto Parts - both in Smithfield, near you, right?

Cleaning the calipers well is the most important thing. Like any paint work, it's the prep that will make or break your paint job. Best of Luck! :nice:

i havent really ever been looking for caliper paint for my other rides. the Xterra or Ranger dont need it. i didnt know if there was a certain brand of paint i should stay away from.

as far as cleaning goes i guess i should just coat them down with some brake cleaner and wipe them down. that should cover it shouldnt it?

I recently bought the mach 1 brake upgrade and was debating the same thing. I would go Red.. with black mounting brackets. FTW! and I used the Duplicolor Spray paint with Ceramic.. spray paint is more resistant to chipping if you don't do it in multiple layers. I'm pretty good at spray painting so.. I dunno it's your choice if you want to spend 2 times more for the same kit go ahead. But Prep work is the key. and sanding the surface down with some sand paper helps alot.

I used the stuff from Autozone on mine. It came with caliper cleaner (brake cleaner) and a small can of paint that could let you do many coats of paint, and a brush to apply the paint with. The whole kit was under $20, and well worth it. Just take your time and it will look great. Mine are red by the way.
