Cobra Brakes?

Hey Guys,

My front rotors, rear rotors, and rear pads are just about finished. I'm trying to find the Cobra Brake upgrade kit. I can't seem to find any merchant selling this anymore. Is it no longer made? I know Buyfordracing.com used to sell it, but not anymore according to their web-site.

Any ideas? I'd like to upgrade, but trying to keep costs reasonable for a reasonable upgrade. Alternative upgrades perhaps?

Ford no longer produces those calipers so your best bet is to either find a set on ebay (new ones come up from time to time) or buy some re-manufactured calpers. Keep in mind that the Mach1, bullitt, and cobra calipers are all the same.

You can also buy this kit 1994-04 Mustang SVE 13" Cobra Style Front Brake Kit at LRS - Same Day Shipping!. These are also the same calipers as I mentioned above as they are made by PBR. The SS lines included in the kit are the exact same lines that you get from MM as they are made by stop tech. Honestly with rotors, pads, SS lines, and calipers this is a pretty good deal. Unless you can find some calipers for cheap you wont be able to piece togeather a kit with the same quality.

The rotors in the LRS one seems to be better quality. I trust LMR and I would be willing to spend a little bit more for their stuff knowing they carry alot of Ford pieces. That's just my opinion. If BufyFordRacing doesn't have them anymore I will be getting them from LMR.

Yeah, those calipers. I remember maybe a year back when they used to sell those calipers, the rotors, pads, & SS brake lines all together for $400. I think I'll just piece everything together, but it's a PITA.

I've heard about them. They seem to be hit & miss. Mostly miss though. I, personally, wouldn't buy from them just from all the negative feedback from Stangnet. Good looking out though!

Everyone seems to slam buyfordracing, but i had a great experience buying my Cobra R brakes from them about 6 years or so ago. They were more than willing to custom fit my order giving me the regular Cobra blank rotors vs the slotted ones. Shipping was very reasonable as well.

That Bullitt kit actually looks pretty damn good. Calipers, rotors, pads, and hardware for just over $400? Not bad at all.

Just out of curiosity, what advantages do stainless steel lines offer?

Where do you see it for just over $400? I see calipers for $269 and rotors and SS lines for $249. That's over $500.

The steel line that goes around the inner brake line prevents it from swelling which gives a harder brake pedal. They can allow a supposed faster pedal response by not letting the hose swell before it applies force to the pistons in the caliper.

Ahh, I was looking at the wrong link. Thanks. Do you still have to get brake lines or can you use your stock brake lines? I don't know if the gt calipers and cobra calipers use the same connection. If you want SS lines you aren't really saving any money. Then again, I just found they sell another kit for $465 that includes SS lines.

Not a bad deal. Almost $100 cheaper than late model restoration's kit. To think I was going to blow a bunch of money on stock sized EBC rotors and pads when I could have cobra brakes.

Some people have problems with them. I've made a couple of orders from them and not had any trouble. Your mileage may vary.

As with every other similar company, all you do is point/click/buy a product and it usually arrives a few days later without ever really dealing with anyone.
Now, when a problem arises which requires you to actually deal/talk to the people behind the computer screen, then that is where one company differentiates itself from the rest.

God forbid there is ANY type of problem with an order through BFR.com because if there is expect to be insulted, disrespected, and talked to like an 8 year-old child. Hell, they even started calling me names lol
