Cobra front brake hose

I bought a pair of Cobra calipers from a bone yard (check out Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market) and just received them. They didn't come with hoses which isn't a big deal as want to get new ones. I removed the pistons & seals, broke the bleeders loose and removed the banjo bolts to get them ready for bead blasting and eventual painting.

I noticed that one caliper has a coarse thread banjo bolt with a 10mm head and the other caliper has a fine thread bolt with a 16mm head. I'm guessing that I ended up with calipers from different years.

So, after that long dissertation, will the different calipers take the same brake hose?

lines should be the same, just a different banjo bolt.

but you might want to check and make sure the piston size is the same on them, IIRC the newer ones use a piston that is 2mm larger. Not sure if they changed that and the banjo bolts at the same time though

Thanks for the reply. I just returned from bead blasting the calipers and completely disassembled them to wash the sand & residue out of them When I discovered a possible issue. It seems the idiot that had these calipers before I got them used the wrong banjo pitch bolt and partly f****d up the threads! I was able to clean up the remaining threads using to correct banjo bolt. I think there's enough there to be safe but I hope I'm not wrong in my assessment.

when you buy your lines, you should end up with two that are slightly different, just why there is a "right" and "left" hose I don't know, but there sure as heck is. It has been years since I did mine, and I bought a new, complete kit. When installing it, the first hose wouldn't thread in, called, and they said, "try the other one", sure enough, they are particular to which side of the car they are used.

I put a FRPP 13" Cobra kit on mine and it came different hoses and the Cobra master cylinder which i would assume you need too.

the passanger side fitting on the brake hardline is differant than the driver side.

I finished my install yesterday and all is well. I used a set of Cobra SS braided hoses from Earl's. All of the lines were marked and the only difference I could detect was between front and rear. I had to slightly modify the front hose brackets to allow the threaded retainer to fit. The rears took quite a bit more work. I cut the brazed hose mounts off of the brackets and welded heavy washers that I ground a flat on to the brackets.

I didn't use a Cobra MC and I like the pedal feel.

I bled the entire system using a Motive Systems Power Bleeder and I must say it worked great!
