hi guys i might be albe to get a cobra intake for 200 dollars, i was wondering what kind of power i can make with this intake when i match it to some nice heads, would i need to port the intake to make good power? or is it already good out of the box? how does it compare to other intakes out on the market? thanks.

You shouldn't be here right now, you should be picking up your new intake before someone else does.

It's a good street intake, good for a low 12 second car with the proper heads and cam.

For $200 you are ripping off who ever is selling it, because he/she could sell it on ebay for over $300. My friend bought a used cobra intake with only 10,000 miles on it for $200 off his friend. He got one hell of a deal. The intake was looked brand new!!! I paid $220 shipped for an Explorer intake from some dude on the corral, which I am very happy with.

Just make sure that it is not an explorer intake. I see people try and pass them off as cobras all the time. Also make sure that it is both the upper and the lower.

Let me make it easy for you….

How is the GT-40 better? It only looks better IMO. Lets compare the two....

1. They both flow pretty flow about the same
2. The GT-40 looks better
3. The Cobra is much cheaper
4. The Cobra upper is fully portible, while the GT-40 upper is not at all
5. The Cobra has a built in spacer, the GT-40 does not

Sounds like the Cobra is better IMO....

gt40 outflows the cobra, not by a ton, but it does

The cobra is more cost effective though.

The explorer intake is not worth 200 bucks IMO.

A while back i had an intake flow chart, i searched and who ever hosted it took it down. But the explorer intake did not fair all that well. Noticeably less than the gt40 and the cobra.

Also by the time you pay to have the cobra extrude honed, you could just of bought a better intake in the first place. If i had that type of money i wouldn't buy either one.
