New here! I have a 65 coupe that I've already done a rod and custom complete ifs, power rack, coil overs, and wilwoods in. I bought a running, driving 98 cobra to swap engine/trans/rear end into the 65. Any threads you can link to me? Or advice? I was searching through threads but not having much luck finding what I was looking for. Changed directions a few times on my 1st car which I've had about 22 years! This is last direction! Couldnt afford a coyote or terminator swap so I decided on this path. Any help would be appreciated !

Im pretty sure thats a different block so you would need motor mounts, a custom driveshaft, and have the rearend narrowed. Id get a specific harness for that swap instead of gutting the original cars harness. I got a motorsport harness when i did my swap, didnt want electrical gremlins
pics?

Im putting a 04 4 cam in my 69 Mach, started with a 98 Cobra engine, using a 4r70w tranny. Ive engineered everything myself. You can message me or call me if youd like. I have 36 years of wrenching years under my belt. Own my own shop.

You can use the rear end out of that car with some shorter fox-length axles. LMR and North Racecars both sell caliper brackets that are modified to accommodate the shorter axles while still allowing you to use the SN-95 rear brakes. You could either weld some spring perches on it to use it with your leafs, or upgrade to a bolt-in 4-link such as the one sold by AJE (which is designed to allow an '86-'98 8.8" Mustang rear axle to be a bolt-in affair).

The shorter fox axles should allow you to run it without narrowing it using a deeper backspace wheel. You could still narrow it if you want to run wide wheels, though.

Wow, that sounds awesome. Hoping to get 97 motor pulled this month and get it rebuilt. How did you handle the wiring? I have a buddy doing a similar build but he sent the ecm to Ron Francis and they built him a wiring harness and deleted all the stuff from the ecm he wasnt planning to use. Are you running ac and heat? How did you handle that to?

Thanks! I was planning to use the 4 link from rod and custom motorsports because I already have thier front end set up. I'll check out AJE for theirs to compare.

Im using a 2000 GT computer and harness, modified both harness and plenum myself. Yes both A/C and heat, cruise control also.

Removed EGR from plenum, removed PATS functions, egr, evap, downstream O2’s using SCT tuner

That looks so awesome! I'm overwhelmed but determined to figure out how to get this done. Hope to be pulling motor/trans from cobra next couple weeks for rebuild. I also want to keep the AC and heat. You modified your donor car heater/ac box to fit the 69? What brake booster did you end up running?

I have kind of the same plan with a 56 Ford ,i will be using everything from a 2005 GT ,heater AC box ,brake booster and interior into the 56 . It all fits pretty easy into a 56 ,would take some work to put into an early Mustang though .these are some pics i found on line. I know it isnt a Mustang but it makes use of a wrecked 2005 GT with low milage

The old Ford looks rough but it is actually the straightest one i have ever seen with only a couple of dings and brown primer over the original buck skin and white paint. I am not sure what the Cobra has for motor mounts but the 05 GT has aluminum mounts that look like it will be very simple to use in the 56
