Cobra or Edelbrock Performer Intake?

I currently have a Cobra intake on my '91. Talking to a mechanic who owns a 5.0, he suggested I would benefit from swapping over to an Edelbrock Performer. Would this swap be worth it? Would I regain some low end torque? What about top end horses? Thanks.

According to the last issue of 5.0 mustang and the companion issue a couple of months earlier where they did the intake shoot out on a 302 and a 347 the GT40\cobra and the Edelbrock performer are very close in performance. THe GT40 has more low end torque, in fact equal with the stock intake, but the Edelbrock does a little better up top. If it's a daily driver I'd probably stick with the cobra.

:stupid: I wouldn't waste the time or money swapping to the Eddy intake. If you go to the Anderson Ford Motorsports website under tech articles, you can see a comparison between the two. As stated by 18mustangs the results were very close.

Thanks, that's about what I thought. My other thing was, though I didn't mention this, was that I was thinking of going with Performer heads and figured the Performer intake would match them better. Minor details, huh?

Yeah. And even if they don't match up exactly its nothing a dermel tool and a sanding drum can't fix. :)

Yes, an edelbrock performer would flow better and probally make more power but the current cobra isn't a bottleneck. If you want more flow getting the cobra lower ported would flow more than the performer.
