What do you guys think?I love the looks of the saleen but the 03/04 cobras have so much power potential.I was adding up the cost of a forged sb,trans, cobra tank/pump,and all the other parts needed to slap a KB2.2 on it.I figure it's going to run 15k-20k.I have seen 03-04 cobras go for under 25k.I am thinking it would make more sense to get the cobra and just put a KB 2.2 on it.Are there any other mods necessary on the cobra for a KB swap? All advise is appreciated.I know I am gonna lose my ass on the saleen if I get rid of it.Thanks Troy.

You need to post in the finacials on the saleen. what you owe, current book value, etc.

if you don't own it I would proably say off it. If you do own it you have to take into acount the intrest yo will be paying on a loan for a cobra.

do you work on you car yourself? if not labor is going to hurt you on your car.

I would just start a spreedsheet of exact costs. no guestimating. find the pricing of all the mods for you car. add them up.

then take into acount the loss off you saleen if you get rid of it, the price of the intrest you will pay on the cobra, the cost of the mods to the cobra.

1 think to rember is if you build the car you can make the tranny and rear stronger than the cobra.

if you put all these numbers together in one place you should see a trend of what makes the most sense.

If you can afford a 03 cobra, 2.2l and saleen kit I would also look Z06 vetts. Go drive one at least. The handling of the car is on another level from the cobra.

I could never rationalize the issurance cost because my driving record blows but ther is alot of car there.

The Z06 is not an option.I have a 7 yr old and 2 yr old twins that have to ride in the car on occasion.

You've found 03/04 Cobra's for under 25k? I'd have one already if I could find one in my area for that price. As long as the Cobra won't take you out of a comfortable financial situation, go for it. I wouldn't put the Saleen kit on the Cobra though - they look perfect right out of the box. My opinion, of course. :)

Your Saleen will be worth more in the years to come because of the limited production numbers and name. The '03/'04 Cobras won't hold their value once the Shelby GT500 comes out. However, if your looking for all out performance you should go with the Cobra. Maybe you should hold out until the GT500 comes out so you could get even better deals on the Terminator Cobras. All the Terminator Cobra owners would want to trade or sell for the new GT500. That means lots of low mileage Cobras for sale.
