ok guys, im a 5.0 pilot and i really really want a cobra stang. i would like to know what year cobras should i stay away from and what years i should look for (other than 01 to 04). im hoping to get a 94-99 cobra but i forgot what years to try and avoid. someone is selling a 97 cobra manual, nitto tires, custom exhaust for $6200. this is in my price range if i can sell my 5.0 but i am unsure of that year cobra! any info?

94-95 were 5.0's. 96 they switched to the DOHC 4.6 motor. in 99 the motor was revised slightly and the solid axle was replaced by an IRS. 00 there wasnt a cobra, just teh cobra r. 01 was similar to 99 but the problems with not making power were fixed. 03 and 04 they switched to an iron block and superchrged them. 96 -98 blocks are considered really well to build up, they were made in Italy by Teksid. for aluminum blocks they are very strong. all of the aluminum blocks are 6 bolt main

FYI, all Cobras come from the factory the way they are supposed to be, with a manual transmission :D

My father has a 97 Cobra, awesome car, never had a problem with it. Go for it ! :nice:
